The Belt

"Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against
all strategies and tricks of the devil. For we are not fighting against people
made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen
world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against
wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Use every piece of God's armor to
resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will
still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the
sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness.
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that
you will be fully prepared. In every battle you will need faith
as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan.
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God. Pray at all times and on every occasion
in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your
prayers for all Christians everywhere." Ephesians 6:11-18 NLT

According to the New World Dictionary of the American Language, truth is:
1. the state or quality of being true; 2. that which is true; 3. an established
or verified fact, principle, etc.

So then, what is truth? Pontius Pilate asked that very question. In
John 18:38, we read: "Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth? And when he had said
this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in Him
no fault at all." Truth? Let us read further in the dictionary: Syn.--truth
suggests conformity with the facts or with reality, either in the abstract
(as did Pilate), or in actual application to statements, ideas or acts (such as,
there is no truth to that rumor). Now that we know what man says about
truth, let's see what the Bible has to say.

He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a
God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He."
Deuteronomy 32:4

" Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou has redeemed me, O Lord God of truth."
Psalm 31:5

Psalm 15 gives us more insight into truth:
"Lord who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth
in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor
taketh up a reproach against his neighbor. In whose eyes a vile person is
contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to
his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money
to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these
things shall never be moved. He shall cover thee with His feathers,
and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler."
Psalm 91:4 KJV

Now, let's read that same verse as stated in the New Living Translation:

"He will shield you with His wings. He will shelter you with His feathers.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection."

"For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth
to all generations."
Psalm 100:5

" We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, for we have heard that you trust in Christ Jesus and that
you love all of God's people. You do this because you are looking
forward to the joys of heaven--as you have been ever since you first heard
the truth of the Good News. This same Good News that came to you
is going out all over the world. It is changing lives everywhere, just as it
changed yours that very first day you heard and understood the truth about
God's great kindness to sinners."
Colossians 1:3-6 NLT

This beautiful passage is found in James and was written to Jewish Christians who
were scattered among the nations: Whatever is good and perfect comes to
us from God above, who created all heaven's lights. Unlike them, He never
changes or casts shifting shadows. In His goodness He chose to make us
His own children by giving us His trueword. And we, out of all creations,
became His choice possession."
James 1:17-18 NLT

What beautiful promise! Now, let's read the very same passage, but from the KJV:

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth, that we should be a
kind of first-fruits of His creatures."
James 1:17-18 KJV

" Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth."
Psalm 119:142

From the New Century Version of the Holy Bible, we have this passage:
"The teachings of the Lord are perfect; they give new strength.
The rules of the Lord an be trusted; they make plain people wise. . .
The judgments of the Lord are true; they are completely right."
Psalm 19:7-9

" How I love your teachings! I think about them all day long.
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, because they are mine forever. . .
Your words are true from the start, and all your laws will be fair forever."
Psalm 119:97, 98, 160 NCV

" We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we
can know the True One. And our lives are in the True One and in His Son,
Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the eternal life."
1 John 5:20 NCV

You see, friends; because God is who HE is, you can have eternal life because of who
Jesus Christ, His only Son, is.God cannot lie.

In the New Living Translation, we read: "So God has given us both His promise and
His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.
Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can take new courage, for we can
hold on to His promise with confidence. This confidence is like a strong and
trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain of heaven
into God's inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us."
Hebrews 6:18-20a
