The Helmet of Salvation

"Stand therefore, having your loins
girt about with truth, and having on
the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation
of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the Word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints."
Ephesians 6:14-18

"Behold, God is my salvation; I will
trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord
Jehovah is my strength and my song;
He also is become my salvation."
Isaiah 12:2

"The Lord thy God in the midst of
thee is mighty; He will save,
He will rejoice over thee with joy;
He will rest in His love,
He will joy over thee with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17

Salvation? Why?

"Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except
a man be born again, he cannot see
the kingdom of God."
John 3:3

"For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the
world to condemn the world; but that
the world through Him might be saved.
He that believeth on Him is not
condemned: but He that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath
not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God."
John 3:16-18

In other words, anyone who turns away,
or denies, the Son of God and His free
gift, will suffer eternal separation
from God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

What Must I Do?

There is only one way to be saved:
through belief in Jesus Christ, the
only begotten Son of God. Jesus is
the only door to salvation.

John 10:9 tells us,
"I am the door: by me if any man enter
in, he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out, and find pasture."

Jesus is the only Savior:
"Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

God's gift of eternal life is free.

Romans 6:23
"The gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord."

You can have a full, meaningful life.

John 10:10
"I am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly."

You will spend eternity in heaven
with Jesus.

John 14:3
"If I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

The promise of eternal life gives
meaning to our lives. However, our
sinful nature prevents us from
fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.

We are all sinners by nature
and by choice.

Romans 3:23
"All have sinned, and come short of
the glory of God."

We cannot save ourselves.

Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace are ye saved, through
faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God. Not of works,
lest any man should boast."

We deserve death and hell.

Romans 6:23
"The wages of sin is death."

God is holy and just and punishes sin,
but He loves us and has provided
forgiveness for our sin.

John 14:6
Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth,
and the Life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me."

Jesus is the provision God made
for the forgiveness of our sin.

Jesus died for us on the cross.

1 Peter 3:18
"Christ also hath once suffered for
sins, the just for the unjust, that
He might bring us to God."

Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

"(Jesus) was delivered for our offences,
and was raised again for our justification."

The only way we can be justified
through Christ, is to receive Him.

John 1:12
"As many as received Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even to
them that believe on His name."

The choice is ours. Thus...

We must repent of all our sin.

Acts 3:19
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out."

Repentance is turning to God, through
Jesus, and turning away from our sin.

When we repent...
We must place our faith in Jesus.

Faith is not just believing facts about
Jesus, Faith is trusting in Jesus.

James 2:19
"Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble."

We must surrender to Jesus as Lord.

Romans 10:9-10
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised Him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Surrendering to Jesus as Lord means
giving Him control of our lives.

Matthew 7:21
When you have given Jesus control, you
will want to identify with Him. The way
to do that, is to confess Him publicly,
and to be baptized and join a church.

Are you willing to place your faith in
Jesus and turn away from your sin?
Read the following prayer, letting
the words come from your heart, and
the Lord will hear you.

Dear God, I know that Jesus is your Son,
and that He died on the cross and was
raised from the dead. I know I have sinned
and need forgiveness. I am willing to turn
from my sins and receive Jesus as my Lord
and Savior. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus' name. Amen

Your next step, once you have accepted Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Savior, is to find
a church and follow our Lord's command to
be baptized. As a babe in Christ you will
need to pray every day and study the Bible.
Bible studies at your church or in a home
fellowship group are a great way to learn,
and to fellowship, with other Christians.

God bless you!
