"There are three things that will endure--faith,
hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT
Welcome to another page about love. It is a subject that is as
timeless as God Himself. And because God IS love, His creations
have also been given the ability to love one another.
You may be asking, what are swans doing on a page about love?
Simply this, in the animal kingdom, there are some species that do
mate for life. Swans are one such species. Eagles and wolves also,
I understand, and there are probably more.
Man was also designed by his Creator to keep one spouse for life.
To successfully live a lifetime with another, love must be present.
I believe that genuine love is an amalgamation, or mixture, of
emotions...not just a single entity. That love, as opposed to mere attraction or lust, also contains elements such as faithfulness (or loyalty), patience, forgiveness, and more.
The Scripture below best describes this kind of love. Once you
have read it, please go on and read both of the stories I found
while out surfing. They are wonderful illustrations of the emotion,
or feeling, known as LOVE.
"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or
boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand
its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps
no record of when it has been wronged. It is never
glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the
truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses
faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every
circumstance. Love will last forever..."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a NLT
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings
lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others
including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that
the island would sink, so all of them repaired their boats and left.
Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment, but when
it became evident the island was sinking, Love decided to ask for
Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love said "Richness, can
you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is
a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful
vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you Love. You are
all wet and might damage my boat." Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go
with you." "Oh...Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did
not even hear when Love called her!
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It
was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even
forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived at dry land,
the elder went his own way.
Love realized how much he owed the elder and asked Knowledge,
another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge
answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because,
only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."
"Dear Friends, let us continue to love one another,
for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is born
of God and knows God."

I Love You Anyway
The fear of rejection may be one of the most basic fears of
the human experience. Dr. Joe Harding tells a heart-warming
story of a man who finally decided to ask his boss for a
raise in salary.
It was Friday. He told his wife that morning what he was
about to do, and all day the man felt nervous and apprehensive.
Late in the afternoon he summoned the courage to approach
his employer. To his delight, the boss agreed to a raise.
The man arrived home to a beautiful table set with their
best china. Candles were lighted. His wife had prepared a
festive meal. Immediately he figured that someone from
the office had tipped her off!
Finding his wife in the kitchen, he told her the good news.
They embraced and kissed, then sat down to a wonderful meal.
Next to his plate the man found a beautiful lettered note.
It read: "Congratulations, darling! I knew you'd get the
raise! These things will tell you how much I love you."
While on his way to the kitchen to get dessert he noticed
that a second card had fallen from her pocket. Picking it
off the floor, he read: "Don't worry about not getting the
raise! You deserve it anyway! These things will tell you
how much I love you."
Total acceptance! Total love! Her love for him was not
contingent upon his success at work. In fact, just the
opposite. If he were to fail there, if he were to be
rejected by his boss he'd be all the more accepted at home.
She stood behind him no matter what; softening the blows,
healing the wounds, believing in him, loving him. We can
be rejected by almost anyone if we're loved by one.
That's the way families can be with each other. And I
like to think that's the way God is with us, too! "We love
because he first loved us."
"Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian
brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king."
1 Peter 2:17 NLT
"May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor
and give you His peace."
